SenateSHJ worked with the Victorian Department of Primary Industries to develop a new set of values and behaviours for the department.
A bottom-up approach was adopted for the research element of the project, actively seeking employees’ views via focus groups, one-on-one interviews and an online survey. The recommended values were rolled out across the organisation as 'how we work around here'.
Subsequently, SenateSHJ was engaged to help weave sustainability into the Department's values and behaviours. This process involved workshops with employees to understand what sustainability meant to them and their stakeholders, and how they wanted this value to be defined and reflected.
The new values and behaviours were incorporated in a range of departmental processes including induction, training, performance management and planning.
